Every year since 1975 New Zealand has marked Māori Language Week. This is a time for all New Zealanders to celebrate te reo Māori (the Māori language) and to use more Māori phrases in everyday life. In 2017 Māori Language Week runs from 11-17 September, the theme is 'Kia ora te reo' – which celebrates New Zealand’s indigenous greeting and the intent of te reo Māori revitalisation efforts between the Crown and Māori.

TV violence 

why do kids like TV violence maybe they want to become the next Jackie Chan or maybe the next Bruce lee. hi my name is tom cruise i wish it was, hi my real name is tiger Gibson and today i am going to talk to you about why kids shouldn't watch TV violence.... so my first reason who watches action movies well did you know some action movies are rated 18+ because in 18+ movies have tuns of disgusting stuff if you know what i mean so for my second reason what it could do to your brain well here is an example say there is a cute kind little boy that wouldn't be mean to any body but then one day he saw he parents watching an action movie what dose he do...... he sits and watches the and then after the movie he becomes from cute boy to mean boy so please please please don't watch action movies and don't be a bad influence to your parents. so that was my speech and i hope i paswaded you

my whauna story



my dad 

In 1976 my dad was born and was given birth in kaikoura
From my grandmother Diana Gibson. When my dad finished high school which was at kaikorai high,he started to pack his gear and then he left home and started to hitchhike away. Then he got picked up by some Guys by the side of the road and then they drove to a hang out where people can just chill and listen to loud music and 10 weeks later his paul came and asked to go to this girls party so he drove with his to the so he went into the house and when he got in there wer’nt very much people at the party, and there she was... phet phillan so my dad walked over to and started to chat to each other and then in 2004 the 25th of july aurora Gibson and then one year later in 2005 the 25th of november I was born. My dad started his job of being a builder and that was the story of my dad.

2017 my dad has changed his job and my mum has been split apart and his new job is to do fences and the company name is called smart fences.

The New Zealand Election


This week in KidsedchatNZ, we are talking about the upcoming New Zealand election. New Zealand's next general election is taking place on 23 September.

 




Q1: What is an election? What type of election do we have in New Zealand?
a formal and organized choice by vote of a person for a political office or other position.
There are two types of primary elections. In a Presidential primary election, voters registered with a political party select the candidate who will represent that party on the ballot in the next general election in November.

With a government elected by its citizens and that effects every aspect of our lives from schools to health care to homeland security, voting is an important right in our society. By voting, you are making your voice heard and registering your opinion on how you think the government should operate.
